Now, of course I'm not doing the same shit from when I was 16, or 18, or 21 for that matter; not even 29. Changing for the better should be, but unfortunately isn't on everyone’s agenda; hence why you will not always be surrounded by people who embrace it. Group A does not know change, it is foreign to them. Whereas Group B holds you to your past and sees nothing past it. Either way, both groups just “don't see it.” Neither types of people I like to have around nor do I hold them close.
When changing, so does some things and some people that meant the world to you — or just about. It's rare that everybody you love will be ready to grow with you when YOU decide to. This is another one of those “personal” journeys. Finding yourself has nothing to do with anybody but yourself, and no one is mandated to come along that ride with you.
Encourage those who want to change their behavior for the better, do not call them “weird.” If he chooses not to eat meat anymore, respect that man's decision. If I want to be a monk after incarceration, let me. If I no longer want to be a hoodlum, embrace my new learnings. WHY CANT I BE BETTER THAN I WAS? or what you knew me to be.
