No need to look far, we all have them. If it's not something you do discreetly, I am almost sure you've been told about it on an occasion or two. That thing that serves no purpose and maybe be hurting yourself and/or others in the long run.
Like biting your nails/cuticles, although trivial, it can have a bad effect on your health if it continues. For example; biting too far and breaking the skin, exposing it to bacteria, and getting infected thereafter. Why go through this as opposed to learning to deal with the urge differently?
How long has this been going on for it to be considered an unhealthy habit? Research varies, and says;
It can take anywhere from 18 to 254 days for a person to form a new habit and an average of 66 days for a new behavior to become automatic.
Why do we notice our habits to only continue them? Well, a habit is hard to give up, even so; it will require willpower. How bad do you want to put it to an end?
